Southern Glazer's Wine and Spirits Financial Planning & Analysis Manager in Honolulu, Hawaii


Position Summary:

Position will oversee the financials for the state of Hawaii and be responsible for monthly reporting, financial analysis and

identifying areas of opportunity for efficiency to improve the financial performance for the state.

Essential Functions:

  • Lead annual planning and budgeting process and collaborate with key stakeholders in the state to develop the annual profit and loss (P&L) plan

  • Collaborate with Commercial Leads to develop the case, revenue and gross profit plan for the state and collaborate with business unit leaders to develop operating expense plans to support the business

  • Collaborate with operations leaders to develop the annual capital budget and provide return-on-investment analyses to support project decisions

  • Provide financial analysis and reporting to General Manager to support executive leadership decision making and identifying areas of opportunity

  • Oversee local Accounting resources and ensure processes and procedures are running effectively and efficiently

  • Prepare and distribute monthly Financial Statements and Analytical Reviews

  • Review gross profit performance and identify areas of opportunity to improve gross margin

  • Work closely with Trade Development, Marketing Managers, and Sales Consultants to ensure that profitability is maintained

  • Provide accurate and timely reporting and commentary on sales, gross profit and operating expense performance

  • Provide monthly financial reconciliation and tracking of supplier spends and programming mix

  • Analyze financial impact of aged invoices and support the monthly process of reducing our exposure

  • Conduct root-cause analysis to identify variances and implement corrective actions

  • Conduct various analyses as needed such as spend proposals, financial accruals, structure changes, and programs return on investment (ROI)

  • Work alongside key stakeholders to ensure budget alignment, internal reconciliation, and account payable timeliness

  • Assist with internal financial procedure and support monthly and yearly financial closing activities

  • Works with Corporate Accounting and outside auditors as needed for mid-year and year-end audits

  • Perform other duties as assigned and contribute to the success of the division and function at Southern Glazers Wine & Spirits


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel

  • Knowledge with standard concepts, practices and procedures within accounting

  • Strong financial acumen including knowledge of gross profit drivers such as volume, price & mix

  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, decision-making and quantitative analysis skills to provide insights into performance and efficiency opportunities

  • Strong planning and organizational skills to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities

  • Excellent accuracy and attention to detail skills to process large amounts of financial data

  • Excellent customer service skills in all interactions with internal and external customers, including but not limited to personnel from other divisions, vendors, suppliers and other departments

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build relationship and collaboration across different departments, often virtually.

  • Ability to think independently

  • Ability to identify areas of financial opportunity and propose solutions

  • Ability to identify discrepancies and inconsistencies in available information and explain variances

  • Ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records

  • Ability to work under time constraints and prioritize workload in order to meet deadlines

  • Ability to handle confidential information in a discreet, professional manner

  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels in the organization - formally and informally

Role Qualifications (Required):

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting, OR equivalent work experience

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Finance and/or Accounting within a corporate environment with analytic duties

  • 1 year of advanced use of Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel (formulas, pivot tables, and Vlookup)

Role Qualifications (Preferred):

  • Wine & Spirits industry knowledge

  • CPG industry experience

  • Experience with Cognos TM1, SQL and SAP
