Role Summary:

The Executive - Technical Controller will be the primary technical accounting resource for the Power Services business ($14B+ in Revenue, $30B+ of assets), driving revenue policy consistency, supporting 606 revenue recognition assessments and financing structures, among other high risk areas. In this role, you will support global controllership, finance, and commercial teams as they identify and resolve complex accounting and reporting issues.

Essential Responsibilities:

As the Executive - Technical Controller, you will:

  • Lead PS global Technical Center of Excellence, providing weekly support to regional and HQ controllership teams to analyze and resolve complex accounting matters

  • Act as global subject matter expert in the areas of 606 revenue recognition, working capital, financial reporting, restructuring, inventory, factoring, contingencies / commitments, and other areas as needed

  • Conduct and oversee research of technical accounting matters, document conclusions, and present proposed accounting conclusions to the PS CFO, PS Controller and Power Global Controller

  • Serve as key liaison between PS business teams and Power / Corporate Technical Controllership teams on significant and unusual accounting matters to ensure consistency with GE GAP and Power policies

  • Lead technical training, as needed, to ensure global finance teams are adequately educated on GE GAP and US GAAP requirements

  • Oversee PS policy alignment across legacy PGS, Alstom, and Aero to ensure a simplified / compliant set of accounting policies that align with GE GAP, partner with operations to ensure policies are operationally feasible, and limit addition of manual work

  • Support Finance teams in rolling out new policies, validating the impact calculations, and in reviewing system implementation plans to ensure compliance with the policies implemented.

  • Work with regional / P&L controllers to confirm appropriate operational roll-out

  • Maintain a robust, standard framework of policies, procedures, and controls for the PS businesses to follow with respect to controllership around revenue recognition and other key technical areas

  • Monitor ongoing changes to US GAAP and GE GAP, and lead efforts to adopt new standard changes and updates (i.e., new leasing standard), maintaining ongoing communication to ensure a proper transition

  • Act as key point of contact for both internal and external audits, and help ensure all audit items are provided in a timely manner

  • Address audit findings and issues to ensure proper remidation


  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university or college

  • Minimum of 10 years of finance experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working in a global environment

Desired Characteristics:

  • Certified Public Accountant with experience from a big 4 firm

  • Master's Degree in Business Administration (MBA) from an accredited university or college

  • Public accounting experience with a big 4 firm

  • FMP, CAS, EFLP graduate or equivalent leadership / development program

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze risk based on financial data

  • Knowledge of accounting policy and practices

  • Established analytical and reporting ability

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results in an uncertain world

  • Proven presentation and communication skills to senior management

  • Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

  • Strategic thinker with the ability to create and execute concrete action plans
