Job DescriptionPerform all duties related to mixing, dividing, shaping, proofing, and baking bread and bakery products.

Job Summary:

The Baker position is responsible for the production of dough, mixes, cakes, cookies, breakfast pastries, pies and bars. This person is will also stock dry products, decorate cakes and finish pies. This position is responsible for all baking, cooling, wrapping and labeling of products.

Essential Duties:

  • Produce quality breads and pastries

  • Divide, shape and accurately portion all bread and bakery product; ensure consistency in daily production (i.e., baguettes are always the same size)

  • Develop new recipes and production techniques to ensure seasonal variance and high productivity

  • Follow directions and recipes

  • Train production personnel to the highest standard in the company

  • Communicate daily production needs and information with all Team Members

  • Production planning and forecasting for special events and holidays

  • Maintain equipment and department in accordance with the highest cleanliness and safety standards

  • Ensure the safe handling of all food items in accordance with HCCAP procedure

  • Report all safety and fire hazards to your Team Leader for correction

  • Comply with all occupational safety and health regulations

  • Report all accidents and injuries to your Team Leader or Store Leadership immediately

  • Follow Team Leader’s distribution of duties based on business needs

  • Perform other duties as assigned by Team Leader/Store Leadership

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum of two years experience in baking

  • Able to meet physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation

  • Ability to operate all necessary equipment

  • Knowledge of artisan breads and pastries, including cake decorating

  • Experience with handling dough

  • Lots of energy and passion for baking the best breads and pastries

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Basic computer skills

  • Self-motivated with strong follow through skills

  • Passion for cleanliness

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with other Team Members and Leadership

  • Ability to perform basic math operations

  • Ability to take direction

  • Ability to meet deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to follow instructions and established procedures

  • Demonstrate basic reading skill sufficient to read and understand recipes/ingredients

  • Willingness to learn and grow within the Bakery team

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends and holidays as required
